Palmistry (Hast Rekha)
Hast Samudrika Shastra reads the hand as a map of temperament and tendency. Read the dominant hand for what you have made of yourself and the other for what you were born with; lines change slowly over a life.
The four major lines
Every reading starts here; the minor lines only modify what these four say.
- Life line (Jeevan Rekha)
- Curves around the ball of the thumb. Its depth speaks of vitality and resilience, not of lifespan — a short life line is not a short life.
- Head line (Mastishk Rekha)
- Runs across the palm below the fingers. Straight indicates practical thinking; a downward curve indicates imagination.
- Heart line (Hriday Rekha)
- The topmost of the three. Ending under the index finger shows idealism in love; under the middle finger, self-interest.
- Fate line (Bhagya Rekha)
- Rises vertically toward the middle finger. A clear, unbroken fate line marks a settled career direction; breaks mark changes of course, not failure.
The mounts
Each fleshy pad is ruled by a graha; a raised mount amplifies that planet, a flat one understates it.

- Discipline, solitude, endurance.
- Sun/Apollo (below the ring)
- Fame, art, self-expression.
- Mercury (below the little finger)
- Commerce, speech, quickness.

- Warmth, appetite, family life.
- Moon (opposite Venus)
- Imagination, travel, emotion.
- Mars (two areas, upper and lower)
- Courage under attack and courage to attack.
How to read honestly
No single line predicts an event. Palmistry describes disposition; combine it with the birth chart before drawing any conclusion, and never use it to make a medical, legal or financial claim.
